Title: IPL 2025 to Resume May 17 With RCB vs KKR; Final on June 3
The Tata IPL 2025 is set to resume on Saturday, May 17, with a blockbuster clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, as confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). With just 17 league matches remaining before the playoffs and teams closely packed on the points table, Tata IPL 2025 match predictions have become more thrilling than ever. The battle for the top four spots is expected to intensify with each fixture. While RCB, KKR, and LSG are in a tight race for qualification, teams like MI and DC are also well within striking distance. Fantasy league users, punters, and fans alike are eagerly analyzing squads, revised venues, and player availability to make predictions on who will qualify for the playoffs and ultimately lift the trophy on June 3.
The BCCI confirmed on Monday, May 12, that the decision to proceed with the remainder of the tournament was taken after extensive discussions with government and security agencies, along with input from all key stakeholders. The suspension had followed heightened tensions along the India-Pakistan border after Operation Sindoor, which led to the abandonment of the May 8 match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala.
Now, with calm restored and logistical assessments complete, the revised IPL 2025 schedule will run from May 17 to June 3. Over these 18 days, a total of 17 matches will be hosted across six venues—Bengaluru, Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. Notably, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Mullanpur have not been included in the final leg’s venues. As a result, franchises like Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) won’t be playing any more home games at their originally assigned stadiums.
Here is the complete revised schedule:
May 17 – RCB vs KKR – Bengaluru (7:30 PM)
May 18 – RR vs PBKS – Jaipur (3:30 PM)
May 18 – DC vs GT – Delhi (7:30 PM)
May 19 – LSG vs SRH – Lucknow (7:30 PM)
May 20 – CSK vs RR – Delhi (7:30 PM)
May 21 – MI vs DC – Mumbai (7:30 PM)
May 22 – GT vs LSG – Ahmedabad (7:30 PM)
May 23 – RCB vs SRH – Bengaluru (7:30 PM)
May 24 – PBKS vs DC – Jaipur (7:30 PM)
May 25 – GT vs CSK – Ahmedabad (3:30 PM)
May 25 – SRH vs KKR – Delhi (7:30 PM)
May 26 – PBKS vs MI – Jaipur (7:30 PM)
May 27 – LSG vs RCB – Lucknow (7:30 PM)
May 29 – Qualifier 1 – Venue TBD (7:30 PM)
May 30 – Eliminator – Venue TBD (7:30 PM)
June 1 – Qualifier 2 – Venue TBD (7:30 PM)
June 3 – Final – Venue TBD (7:30 PM)
This phase includes just two double-headers, both set for Sundays—May 18 and May 25. The key playoff fixtures—Qualifier 1, Eliminator, and Qualifier 2—are scheduled for May 29, 30, and June 1 respectively, leading up to the grand finale on June 3.
Among the notable changes, CSK and SRH will now play their remaining home games at neutral venues. CSK’s final home fixture against RR on May 20 will now be held in Delhi. Likewise, SRH’s last scheduled home match, a clash against KKR on May 25, will also be played in Delhi. Interestingly, neither CSK nor SRH are in strong playoff contention at this stage, making these games more about pride and finishing the season on a high.
Jaipur will serve as a critical venue for Punjab Kings, hosting all three of their remaining matches, including the replay of their abandoned clash with Delhi Capitals on May 24. With Mullanpur no longer on the schedule, PBKS will look to capitalize on familiar subcontinental conditions in Jaipur, though they too are on the fringes of playoff qualification.
Mumbai Indians, who remain in playoff contention, will play their final league match at home in the iconic Wankhede Stadium against Delhi Capitals on May 21. This match could very well decide the fate of both sides, as the middle of the table remains tightly contested.
The biggest storyline heading into the final phase of the season, however, is the availability of overseas players. Several international stars have already returned home during the week-long suspension, and it remains to be seen how many will come back. With the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final between Australia and South Africa beginning on June 11—just eight days after the IPL final—some Test-bound players, especially bowlers like Mitchell Starc and Kagiso Rabada, may opt to skip the rest of the IPL to prepare for national duties. This could impact team strategies and player combinations significantly.
As the league enters its final stretch, fans can expect closely fought contests, unexpected upsets, and nail-biting finishes. With playoff stakes higher than ever and multiple teams still vying for a top-four finish, every match counts. Fantasy players, sports bettors, and die-hard cricket fans are in for a treat.
